This activity begins with a great book. Check this animated version out on Kids Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Waoa3iG3bZ4
After watching the animated book, go on a hunt your self! Here are some ideas:
Go on a shape hunt. First write down the name of shapes on one column of a piece of paper folded in half the long way. After the shape names have been written down, start hunting. Record your findings. You can make tally marks or do a picture journal where you take pictures of all the shapes you have found. (If you are one of my students, please share your pictures in the forum.)
Go on a letter hunt. Go on a hunt inside the house for letters. You can start by looking for all the letters of the child's name, or you can start at the top of the alphabet and work your way down. They can look in books, in the writing on products in the pantry, and any where else letters appear.
Go on an indoor scavenger hunt. You can make a list of items to find or you can check out this pre-made list: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=792551614685&set=a.514348236485&type=3&theater
